Covid-19 45,000 cases

Spurt in covid-19 cases continues in India even as the government is undertaking different measures to contain the infection rate. Though the total cases have seen dip in Delhi, new hotspots are giving sleepless nights to authorities.

As per the official report, in last 24 hours, India reported 45,720 coronavirus cases, the highest one-day spike of 45,720 coronavirus cases, and 1,129 deaths. With this tally, the total cases have mounted to 12,38,635. So far 7,82,607 people have recovered, while 29,861 have died, the report said.

The recovery rate has improved a little to 63.18 percent.  Testing number is continuously increasing. The total samples tested till now is over 1.5 crore, government data shows.

While Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state, the pandemic has reached alarming proportions in the south with the five southern states alone accounting for nearly 42% of the country’s total fresh cases on Wednesday.

Maharashtra accounted for almost 23% of the country’s new patients even as 11 other states – Andhra, Tamil Nadu, UP, Karnataka, Assam, Odisha, Punjab, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Tripura – also recorded new peaks in daily cases, a report said.
