Amidst huge speculation that lockdown would be further extended, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation at 10 am tomorrow.

With an objective to combat rising cases of COVID-19, the Government had announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown to combat rising cases of COVID-19. The lockdown period which ends tomorrow was announced by the PM in his address to the nation on March 24.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 10 AM on 14th April 2020,” PMO India tweeted.

Earlier on Saturday, PM held a meeting with 13 chief ministers to take stock of the situation and further course of action to extend the lockdown period. In the meeting the chief ministers of most states requested for an extension of the lockdown period as cases continue to rise.

Interacting with chief ministers via video conference, the prime minister had said the next 3-4 weeks are critical to determine impact of steps taken till now to curb the coronavirus spread and urged state governments to ensure strict adherence to the lockdown.

Telangana, Maharashtra, Punjab and Odisha, have already extended the lockdown till 30 April.

Meanwhile, the total number of positive coronavirus cases rose to 9,152 in India, as per the Health Ministry data today.
