NITI AayogTo improve public healthcare system across India, NITI Aayog has proposed an integrated digital healthcare system, known as National Health Stack (NHS).

This would be the nations first future-ready healthcare information system available for use, by both the private and public sector.

It is aimed to achieve the digital health record of all citizens by the year 2022. NHS is designed to provide the foundation that will be helpful to implement Ayushman Bharat and other proposed health schemes.

Once fully implemented, all the personal health records and service provider records will available on the cloud and accessible on open application programme interfaces (APIs).

PHR will be maintained in a secure and private ecosystem, with the individual determining rights of access to prevent the data breach.

The health records will use MeitY Electronic Consent Framework which will give users control of their data and protect their data from abuse and compromise.

For this, Digital health IDs will be created and the registrants will get a unique ID on completing the KYC procedure using IDs like Aadhar, Pan Card, Election ID, etc.

A virtual ID can also be created by the user to interact with other stakeholders in the system to preserve privacy

The Digital Health ID will comprise all the medical history, including medication and allergies, immunisation, laboratory test results, radiology images, vital signs, age and weight, demographics and billing information.
