The special purpose ultramodern scanner would scan the pathology slides for converting it in digital form, making cancer diagnosis less expensive and speedy 

Pune: Optra Systems, a software engineering company has created a prototype of a scanner ‘Optra Scan‘ for cancer diagnosis. In future, the device would be loaded with new edge IT solution to make it a complete cancer diagnostic system for breast cancer, prostate cancer and renal cancer.

The device is a unique indigenous development and will replace Optical Microscope, a 150 year old invention, Optra Group of Companies,  founder, president and CEO, Abhijeet Gholap said during a special demonstration of the device.

Designed and developed at the company’s research and development unit in Pune, it was built under the Biotechnology Industry Partnership Program (BIPP) of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India for design and development of affordable healthcare devices for Indian Healthcare segment.

The research and development lab of Optra Systems has been recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as Research & Development Unit for healthcare and life sciences.
