Gujarat opens up a new plant set up by Jubilant Life Sciences (JLS) on Tuesday .The plant manufactures Symtet, a key ingredient for making insecticide ‘Chlorpyrifos’, at Bharuch in Gujarat. The new deal is a part of it’s nearly Rs.350 crore capacity expansion plans for the next financial year. The plant will be set up in the Special Economic Zone, at Bharuch to manufacture commercially having a capacity of 24,000 tonnes per annum (TPA). It will also manufacture chlorinated pyridine derivatives up to a 5000 tonnes of annual production. In the year 2011-2012, jubilant life science has allocated Rs.350 crore for capacity expansion. JLS utive Director Finance R. Sankaraiah said that this new plant is a part of the expansion plan. The invest details however was not disclosed. Once the plant is operated, jubilant life sciences will become the largest producer of Symtet globally catering to more than 40 per cent of the worldwide demand. The company even has received major customers’ approval for a long term arrangement which expects to gain additional annual revenue of 90 million from this facility.
