Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Dehradun

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will be in Uttarakhand for two days. The Union Health Minister inspected the Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Dehradun on the first day of his visit. During the inspection, he interacted with health workers at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra as well as Jan Aushadhi Kendra beneficiaries.

During this time, the Union Health Minister stated that the Prime Minister is determined to make medicines affordable and accessible to the general public. He stated that no one should die due to a lack of medicine, and that the plan to open the Jan Aushadhi Kendra was brought forward to that end. He stated that by getting cheap medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendra, common people are getting relief and convenience, and people’s trust in Jan Aushadhi Kendra has grown. The Union Minister stated that, in addition to meeting people’s needs, the medicines available at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra help them save money.


He stated that over 9.5 thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras operate across the country, from the capital to district headquarters in various locations. Every day, approximately 20 lakh people visit Jan Aushadhi Kendra. According to Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, a cancer medicine called Bicalutamide, which costs Rs.800 in the market, is sold for Rs.137 at Jan Aushadhi Kendra. Another drug, Sitagliptin, is available in the market for Rs 400, but it is only Rs 60 at any Jan Aushadhi Kendra.

Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister, stated that pharmaceutical is a public health issue. He went on to say that the Central and State Governments are both concerned about the quality of medicines manufactured and that any company that violates drug manufacturing standards will face severe consequences. According to the minister, regular inspections are conducted throughout the country by both DCGI and State Drug Controllers, and appropriate action is taken against defaulters.


Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will lay the foundation stone for health-related schemes with Chief Minister Dhami today at the Chief Minister’s residence, Main Sewa Sadan. During this visit, he will lay the groundwork for a 500-bed capacity hospital in the new Doon Medical College building, as well as 50-bed critical care blocks in Rudraprayag, Nainital, and Srinagar, all in Uttarakhand.
