Two Omicron cases detected

Two cases of Omicron variant have been reported in India so far. Both cases are from Karnataka, informed the Union Health Ministry. “Two cases of Omircron detected in Karnataka so far through genome sequencing effort of INSACOG consortium of 37 laboratories established by the Ministry of Health. We need not panic, but awareness is absolutely essential. Covid apt behaviour is required,” shared Balram Bhargava, DG ICMR.

The Health Ministry in its briefing also stated that no severe symptoms are observed in any case of Omicron variant anywhere in the world. Further, 30 international airports have been sensitised, linked to labs for faster testing shared the health ministry officials.
