cleanest air day

Incessant rains that lashed Delhi yesterday have come as a blessing in disguise to make the air quality of Delhi fall in the ‘go0d air day’ category, the first in 2021. The average AQI was 46<50 (below 50) implicating the ‘good’ zone for the first time in 14 months.

Experts believe that the improvement of air quality within 24 hrs from a very poor category (above 300) even with a toxic haze just a day before is quite alarming and dramatic.

System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the forecasting body under the Union ministry of Earth Sciences said, “Delhi’s AQI is in the good category with PM2.5 as the main pollutant. The presence of western disturbance has led to scattered rainfall over north India, leading to low biomass burning. This condition improved AQI with low PM2.5.
