InferMed announces an integration and marketing partnership with Docobo that will see InferMed’s Arezzo active clinical decision support technology embedded into Docobo’s telehealth system, doc@HOME, to provide a solution that will assist clinicians in improving patient care and reducing its cost. The built-in Arezzo technology generates clinical decision recommendations based not only on national guidelines and local policy but that are personalised for each patient according to individual physiological and psychological data provided by the Docobo system. It will also enable remote patient monitoring and facilitate individual patient care plans and multi-disciplinary care pathways.

The initial project, commissioned under the SBRI East competition led by the NHS East of England with joint oversight from the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), will focus on patients with COPD. To support this project, Docobo has made available 40 of its HealthHUB telehealth systems to eight PCTs and PBC groups. The Docobo HealthHUB is similar to a PDA and securely records vital signs measurements, changes in symptoms, side effects, life style and quality of life before transferring data to the centre of care. East of England PCTs that already have HealthHUB systems will be able to use these to include their current COPD patients in this project. The only investment required from PCTs will be a small amount of time.

Consistency in diagnosis and the choice of appropriate care pathways are essential to patient safety, rapid recovery and cost effectiveness. Patients with long-term conditions that are being supported with telehealth and cared for in the community in a ‘virtual-ward’ require this targeted, personalised care. Combining the clinical and lifestyle data from the Docobo telehealth solution with InferMed’s Arezzo active decision support technology makes this possible, as it will provide busy clinicians with an instant clear rationale for optimum clinical actions in both simple and highly complex patient care situations. Duane Lawrence, CEO of InferMed Limited commented further: “The combination of InferMed’s Arezzo active decision support and the powerful Docobo HealthHUB application is an excellent example of how the right solution can both reduce costs and improve care.

Adrian Flowerday, Managing Director of Docobo Ltd added that they are pleased to be working in partnership with InferMed to create a combined solution that will further assist clinicians in the care of their patients. The Docobo HealthHUB can be set to monitor a range of long term conditions, co-morbidities and well-being factors; integrating this key data with Arezzo clinical decision support will provide an invaluable resource for patients which can really make the vital difference between managing their health at home and being rushed into hospital as an emergency.
