Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely to announce pilot projects of Ayushman Bharat in some districts hospitals across six states of the country on Independence Day.

The name of the on-board States to launch the scheme are Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Haryana, West Bengal and, Andhra Pradesh.

However, the full rollout of the scheme will come into effect from September 25 onwards.

The Government announced the scheme, also referred as Modicare, in February this year.

This scheme is destined to cover 10 crore poor families providing up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.

All the beneficiaries under the scheme will be allowed to take cashless benefits from any empanelled public and private hospitals across the nation.

Prime Minister had recently reviewed the implementation part of the scheme. Top officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NITI Aayog and PMO, had apprised him about various preparations in States, and development of the technological infrastructure associated with the scheme.
