Government of IndiaFinally, the Union Government has given its nod to establish All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bibinagar on city outskirts of Telangana state.

For the purpose, the state government was told to acquire an additional 49 acres of land for the project.


A written communication to this effect has already been sent from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to Telangana government.

Health Minister, Telangana, Dr. Laxma Reddy thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for pursuing this project and asserted that State is fully prepared to fulfill all conditions asked by the Union Ministry.

With the required land, the state government has been asked to hand over partially completed hospital building (NIMS Bibinagar) existing there. The government also has to ensure power and adequate water supply too.


The total area of NIMS Bibinagar is around 151 acres. And since, 200 acres land is mandatory for establishing AIIMS, the state government has been asked to acquire an additional 49 acres to fulfill land criteria.
