The Odisha Government has hiked the salary of professors, associate professors and assistant professors –appointed on contract basis — to retain faculty members in the newly established medical colleges.


Professors who were getting a monthly pay of Rs 90,000 will now get Rs 1.25 lakh. The associate professors  earning Rs 75,000 a month will get Rs 1 lakh and assistant professors, getting Rs 60,000 will now get  Rs 75,000.

The hike comes into effect from January 1 this year as per location-based incentives provided by the State Government in the tribal-dominated areas, the official release said.

The salary will be increased by three per cent every year if their performance is found satisfactory. The salary has been hiked following approval of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
