The Madhya Pradesh Government has denied vacation and foreign tours of the medical cadre officers of the State health department —keeping in view the rise of infections like dengue, chikungunya fever and swine flu, in the state.
The medical specialists, medical officers, administrative officers and the members of the paramedical and nursing staff cannot go on vacation till further orders. The directives have been implemented with immediate effect.
This year, 29 lives have been lost in the State due to swine flu and 11 due to dengue. The orders have been passed on to all the Regional Directors, Chief Medical and Health Officers (CMOH) and Civil Surgeon- cum-Chief Medical Superintendents.
The State Government wants to control seasonal diseases. So the Government has asked all medical staff, currently on leave, to resume their duties immediately. Almost all hospitals, whether Government or private, are full of patients suffering from chikungunya, swine flu, dengue or viral fever.
