Indian Medical Association award for FOGSI doctors

Indian Medical Association awardDr Hrishikesh D Pai and Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India have recently received Indian Medical Association’s top awards for their contribution to the field of gynaecology and fertility treatments.

The doctor couple received the award in a glittering ceremony during the centenary celebrations of Medical Conferences in India, organised by the IMA on 23rd September in New Delhi.

Dr Hrishikesh D Pai was honored with the ‘Doctor of the Year Award’, while Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai was accorded the ‘Woman Empowerment Award’ by the IMA.

Dr Hrishikesh Pai is well-known for his work in the field of family planning and community services. He is the Secretary General of the FOGSI. Among his many contributions to society are the introduction of numerous innovations such as assisted laser hatching, spindle view, ovarian tissue freezing for cancer patients, oocyte freezing, IMSI, and embryoscope.

Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai is a pioneer in the uterine Balloon Ablation therapy, for the treatment of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB), in India. Among her contributions to the society include several initiatives for women’s health, mobilising 1,500 private gynaecologists to volunteer their services free of cost, helping needy patients in delivery, and public programmes on gender awareness.

“I have always believed in giving back to society. This award is, thus, an encouragement for me to push myself to continue working for the community with the knowledge I possess and is definitely a landmark recognition in my career,” said Dr Hrishikesh Pai after receiving the award.

“It is an honour to receive the Woman Empowerment Award from IMA. As someone who believes that women can achieve what they dream of, I believe this award will be an encouragement to many other such women who wish to work for the betterment of the society through their field of work,” said Dr Rishma Dhillon Pai.
