Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), India’s first integrated medical devices manufacturing park which is being setup in Visakhapatnam, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Productivity Council (NPC) to contribute towards creating and sustaining the medical device eco-system in the country and support domestic manufacturing of medical devices.
The MoU was signed by Dr Jitendar Sharma, Director and CEO, AMTZ and Kalpana Awasthi, Director General, NPC. This MoU will enable manufacturers at AMTZ to access solutions for accelerating their productivity.
The large integrated ecosystem being provided by AMTZ will be greatly complemented by the expertise at NPC to help medical device manufacturers enhance competitiveness, augment safety and reliability while ensuring better quality of products through training.
NPC’s core focus of productivity as a means to improving triple bottom line of economic, environmental and social is aligned with AMTZ’s objectives of making healthcare affordable and accessible while placing India on the global map of high end medical equipment production.
AMTZ would include facilities such as electro-magnetic interference laboratory, 3D designing and printing for medical grade products,X-ray tube and radiation testing centre, gamma irradiation facility, rapid prototyping centre, metal molding and metal finishing centre, warehousing and regulator’s office.
NPC is national level organization to promote productivity culture in India. Promotional and catalytic in nature, NPC’s services have bearings on economic growth and quality of life. NPC’s thrust is on providing modern and high-quality productivity-related services to sectors not adequately addressed by others.
