New Delhi-based Advanced Fertility and Gynaecological Centre, one of the major In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) centres in India, plans rapid expansion across tier-II cities of North India by opening more IVF clinics in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Delhi NCR.

Considering the fact that there are many childless couples who have lost hopes to experience parenthood, we plan to expand our reach in tier-II cities in the northern region to offer high-quality treatment at affordable cost,” said Dr Kaberi Banerjee, Medical Director, Advanced Fertility and Gynaecological Centre.

The centre offers assisted reproductive technology (IUI, IVF, ICSI, surgical sperm retri, FERC), donor gametes, treatments of infertility in men and women, and gynaecological surgery, etc through state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting edge technology and highly experienced team of fertility experts.

According to data provided by the World Health Organisation, one in every four couples in the developing countries is affected by infertility. Generally associated with women, the problem of infertility also affects men. Almost 30 per cent males are infertile.

However, due to the social stigma attached to the issue, lack of knowledge on infertility treatment and limited facilities of diagnosis and treatment especially in tier -2 cities in India, there are many couples who are still struggling with the issue of infertility.

The main causes of infertility among men are low sperm count (More than 90 per cent of male infertility cases are due to this issue), poor sperm motility, abnormal sperm shape, STDs, Varicocele and other lifestyle issues. In women, issues like pelvic inflammatory diseases, ovulation disorders, uterine abnormalities, fallopian tube damage, endometriosis, early menopause, etc are the main reasons for infertility.

“Most couples are clueless about how to deal with the issue and dont have adequate treatment facilities in their area. It was the need of the hour to set up a reliable diagnostic center that not just provides the most advanced technical support to the patients but provide moral, emotional, & ethical care. This is what sets us apart,” Banerjee said.
