Pankaj Patel, CMD of leading pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila, has been elected President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for 2017, replacing Ambuja Neotia Group Chairman Harshavardhan Neotia who will complete his term next month.

“Patel will take over from Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group, during the FICCI Annual General Meeting to be held on 16 and 17 December,” FICCI said in a statement.


Patel, with over 35 years of experience in the Indian pharmaceutical industry, has been associated with top institutions of the country in various capacities. He is on the Governing Board of the Ahmedabad University, Member of the Board of Management of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and on the academic councils of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER)-Kolkata.

Under his leadership, Zydus Cadila has emerged as a global drug company with strong emphasis on R&D. The company discovers, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of healthcare therapies in over 50 countries globally.
