The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has come up with a new feature on its website that enables users connect with specialists through video consultation.

The feature added recently to the online OPD consultation system of the premiere institute is useful for those seeking a second opinion or valuable suggestions of doctors on post-operative care.

The dry run of this new facility proved to be successfully with doctors from departments like medicine, gastroenterology and cardiology giving their consent to participate in the new initiative.

“The AIIMS video clinic has been developed by National Informatics Centre. It allows uploading of discharge summary and investigation reports. We will be deputing nurses trained in IT to coordinate with the doctors for video calls in the time allotted for each patient,” said Dr Deepak Agrawal, who heads the IT Division at AIIMS.
