The Health Ministry, on May 6, announced the plan to establish integrated health information platform (IHIP) to enable creation of interoperable health records available and accessible anywhere, anytime.

The government is also in the process of setting up of National eHealth Authority (NeHA) to enforce privacy and security measures for electronic health data and to regulate storage and exchange of electronic health records. NeHA will be the nodal authority that will be responsible for development of an Integrated Health Information System (including telemedicine and mHealth) by collaborating with all the stakeholders, such as healthcare providers, consumers, healthcare technology industries and policymakers.


The above measure are being enunciated to realise the overall objective of digitising healthcare through ICT interventions and by focusing on hospital information system, electronic health record facilitated with health information exchange, online delivery of services, citizen portal, online monitoring systems for services and others.
