Royal Philips has announced the introduction of Philips Intuis, its latest innovation in image-guided therapy. Intuis is an advanced, entry level catheterization lab (cath lab) designed, developed and manufactured at the Philips Healthcare Innovation Center (HIC) in Pune, India.
The introduction of Intuis marks an important milestone in HIC’s role as a healthcare innovation and manufacturing center for India and other growth markets. Intuis is one of the cornerstones of Philips strategy for extending access to affordable cardiac care in tier-II and tier-III cities in India. The clinically versatile cath lab announced today is already available in India and will be launched in other growth geographies as well.
The Made in India Philips Intuis, with its state-of-the-art live image guidance technology, will open up new possibilities in interventional procedures in India and empower interventional cardiologists and vascular specialists to decide, guide and confirm the right therapy for their patients in real-time.
“We aim to deliver innovations to enhance existing image-guided minimally invasive therapies and to enable new ones,” said Bert van Meurs, General Manager Image Guided Therapy at Philips. “I am convinced that precision enabled by advanced live image guidance, coupled with affordability can make all the difference in cardiac care in India. Intuis with its image quality and economic value addresses the market need of affordable care. With today’s launch, we are reaffirming our commitment to locally relevant healthcare products that can provide a great experience for both patients and physicians.”
“Today interventional cardiologists need reliable systems that will help them perform a broad range of procedures,” said Rekha Ranganathan, General Manager Mobile Surgery, Philips Image Guided Therapy Systems and Head of Philips HIC. “This need is felt acutely in tier-II cities, where the availability of effective healthcare infrastructure is often a challenge. With Philips Intuis, we are addressing the evolving needs of cardiologists and patients beyond metro’s and tier-I cities.”
Philips Intuis has been developed by a multi-disciplinary team at HIC and follows Philips’ DoseWise X-ray dose management philosophy. A wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures can be performed with the system, including cardiac, vascular and EP procedures, as well as ICD implants and non-vascular interventions. It enhances patient care by intelligent and intuitive integration of live imaging and real-time therapy guidance.
Philips HIC in Pune offers a full spectrum of capabilities ranging from innovation, design, R&D and services to manufacturing of healthcare products.
