Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an independent, nonprofit organization that advances the safety, efficacy and efficiency of bariatric and metabolic surgery, today announced the first two centers in Mexico to achieve the center of excellence designation from the Mexican College for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (CMCOEM). The American British Cowdray Medical Center I.A.P. in Mexico City and the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana successfully completed a rigorous review process to ensure compliance with the requirements for CMCOEM designation. The CMCOEM center of excellence program, which is administered by SRC, ensures that the safest, highest quality care is available to patients who choose to have their bariatric procedure performed in Mexico. The CMCOEM designation, awarded at the same time to individual surgeons and the facility in which they perform bariatric procedures, was achieved by Dr. Miguel F. Herrera and the American British Cowdray Medical Center, which is part of the Methodist International hospital network.
