Siemens Healthcare said it has appointed Dr Gregory Sorensen as its chief utive officer. Sorensen will replace Randy Hill, the interim CEO, starting June 1. He will also be responsible for Siemens’ operations in Canada. As the new CEO, Sorensen will lead marketing, sales, service and support functions for the company across the entire Siemens portfolio of health care products and solutions. He will be based at the company’s U.S. headquarters in Malvern, Penn. Sorensen is a practicing neuroradiologist and the co-director of the A.A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He also currently serves as the professor of Radiology and Health Sciences & Technology at Harvard Medical School and is a faculty member at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. According to his faculty profile at HST, Sorensen’s primary areas of research are using functional magnetic resonance imaging to help understand brain diseases and using other radiologic technologies to uate new therapies. His techniques have been used at 56 centers around the world for phase II and phase III cancer drug research, the profile said.
