St George medical center assigned Siemens Healthcare to conduct a Green+ Check to determine its sustainability index and identify areas in which sustainability performance could be improved. Leipzig’s group has consistently maintained good quality of its corporate principles. The Green+ check has tested efficiency and IT resources as the targets to be improved. As the competition in the industry is increasing with tight budgets, the challenge to maintain St. George group’s status in the healthcare market is passed by the Green+ check. The check is basically a standardized uation scheme provided by the Siemens Healthcare in three broad categories: environment, efficiency and quality. The investigation further reported the improvement areas in terms of quality, energy savings, and environmental protection. The Green+ check gives hospital a direction to help them understand their weaknesses and strengths resulting in better performance and measures the sustainability index in terms of quality and overall benchmarks achieved in the efficiency area. The analytical tool consists of a questionnaire, interviews and hospital visits for optimal quality for patients. The score so produced is in the form of Green+ Score with detailed analysis of quality of care, staff training, strategy and social outreach, information and communication infrastructure, medical equipment and workflows. There are other major categories which are equally given weight age which build infrastructure such as energy supply, lighting, waste and water consumption.
