Scientists have invented a mobile phone application which is capable of spotting cancer accurately. It is reportedly better than the routinely used diagnostic methods in hospitals. It is believed that this smart phone application is helpful in telling the difference between benign tumors and malignant one. The device has an advantage that it produces results just in an hour unlike other testing kits which takes days and weeks to get results. It may also track the status of drug and its efficiency towards fighting the cancer. It can transform the way cancer is treated presently. Initially the accuracy of the device was found to be 88 per cent. After further research and development of its technology the device shows 100 per cent accuracy as comparable to the gold standard technique which is still 84 per cent accurate. It may even track brain, skin and ovarian cancers quickly in the near future. This device will also eliminate the risk of cutting out a tissue from your body. The cancer detector is supposed to be sold cheaper in the market. It is basically a smart phone connected to a mini MRI machine developed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. When the magnet detects the vibration of the cancerous molecules, smart phone software interprets and provides a result to the doctor.
