The helpline is a collection of a huge database of diseases, the symptoms, possible treatments, alternative treatments, medicines, second opinions and side effects, identifying the right specialist in a particular locality, costs involved availability of medical services, products and a host of other related matters. Soon the company is planning to introduce tele-consultations as it is believed that 80 per cent of the illnesses do not need a personal visit to the doctor. This online consultation would be sufficient and will use less resource such as time, money and travelling. The helpline is supposed to be taken care by doctors, nurses, and other trained healthcare faculty on shift basis. The service for customers is free, although doctors need to register and pay different levels of fees depending on the services they take up. Already the firm has registered more than 100,000 doctors with the helpline already. There are even bigger plans to expand in cities like Kolkatta. On the other hand, patient privacy is not guaranteed as everything is provided online about the illness and government puts a cautionary note before using the service.
