ReSound has developed a remote microphone technology that can improve the natural directivity, spatial awareness and wind-noise performance of hearing aids.The technology uses a thin tube to connect to a remote microphone, which is placed in the concha cymba area of the external ear. The microphone uses the natural effects of the pinna, associated with directivity, high-frequency amplification and wind-noise reduction. The body of the hearing aid is placed in the ear canal, which facilitates device retention and improves cosmetic appeal.
