Medtronic has announced funding of $750,000 to support healthcare infrastructure development in Haiti.  The grant by Medtronic completes the $2.1m commitment the company made after the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti. About $500,000 will be provided to Partners in Health to facilitate the completion of construction of public hospital in Mirebalais.  The hospital will improve clinical care and technical capacity, will accommodate a wider range of diagnostics and therapeutics, and serve as a major teaching hospital. The remaining $250,000 will be given to International Medical Corps, which will work with Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population to develop professional development and training programmes for practicing physicians and to develop policies that will improve healthcare delivery.
