eHEALTH BureauThe National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has announced Medsynaptic Pvt Ltd, a pioneering and leading Teleradiology and PACS company from India, as one of the top 10 Information Technology startups for 2010 at the Delhi edition of the NASSCOM EMERGOUT Conclave 2010. The winners, chosen from a total of 236 initial applicants, include companies that provide a range of IT services covering healthcare, education and training, banking, travel and social networking.    The award was presented to Medsynaptic by R Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Dept of IT, Govt of India in the presence of Som Mittal, President NASSCOM, Krishnakumar Natarajan, CEO and Managing Director, MindTree Ltd and Sharad Sharma, Chair of NASSCOM Product Forum.   NASSCOM through its EMERGE 50 initiative has identified 50 Emerging companies which are redefining the benchmark of excellence for the next generation of SMEs. The League of 10, have been selected from these shortlisted companies. The purpose of this initiative is to identify and recognise the great potential companies in the making, who can be treated as role models and inspiration to others.    The jury mulled over the selection criteria at length and decided to focus on a some of the key differentiators, including the presence of the company in emerging/domestic markets, whether it has achieved the fastest rates of growth over the past 2- 3 years, its unique value proposition, the organizational work model i.e. the efficacy of its management team, as well as unique delivery model. Also, whether they have identified a niche for themselves with a strong foothold in the market, in their respective services domain.   Speaking at the conclave, Som Mittal, President NASSCOM said, “The SME segment represents a huge opportunity for India to retain its competitive advantage and sustain future growth. Over the past few years Indian SMEs, which are a significant contributor to the IT industry, have excelled in building niche products and services and tapping non-core markets.
