Vashi’s Fortis hospital has taken a huge initiative to address all problems related to infertility (unproductiveness) in men and women. Fortis hospital in association with Bloom IVF centre has conceptualised Navi Mumbai’s most advanced IVF (In vitro fertilisation) clinic – Fortis Bloom IVF clinic.

Fortis Bloom clinic has been established by India’s well known gynecologists and infertility specialists – Dr. Hrishikesh Pai and Dr. Nandita Palshetkar 3 years ago. Bloom IVF has 4 other centers across the country.

The clinic was inaugurated by the former Miss World and well known film actress Ms. Diana Hayden. Dr. Rajeev Boudhankar, Director, Fortis Hiranandani, says, “The IVF clinic will be a boon to all Navi Mumbai residents. Patients can now look forward to a solution for all problems related to infertility.”

According to Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, gynaecologist and infertility specialist of Fortis Bloom IVF Centre, “The IVF or test tube baby treatment has established itself in India since 1985 when the first Indian test tube baby was born. The present success rate of Bloom IVF Fertility Centres has touched 40 to 50%, per attempt, in women less than 35 years of age.”

“The Unit will endeavour to increase success rates for patients who consult for the first time for IVF, as well as help those who fail multiple times with IVF,” says Dr. Nandita Palshetkar of Fortis Bloom IVF Centre. “These patients can be helped by a variety of techniques as Assisted Laser Hatching and Vitrification (new freezing technique),” she adds. In fact, Bloom IVF has the distinction of delivering its first baby ever in India, following the process of IVF with Vitrification at their sister concern in Mumbai. Patients who fail repeatedly with IVF/ICSI can opt for egg donation or surrogacy.

Fortis Bloom IVF clinic is equipped with sophisticated state-of-the-art ‘Embryology Laboratory’ and is manned by a team of highly trained and skilled professionals. Facilities offered include IUI (Intrauterine insemination) – first line of treatment for infertile couples, IVF (In vitro fertilisation) – The eggs are removed vaginally and mixed with the husband’s sperms and kept in an aincubator. The fertilised egg is then replaced into the womb, ICSI (Infra Cytoplasmic sperm injection) – specialised technique for males with low or zero sperm count, Embryo freezing, Semen banking – semen bank for donor samples and patients undergoing chemotherapy radiation, Egg and embryo donation – egg donation for women who are above 40 years of age, Assisted laser hatching – useful for achieving pregnancy in older patients, Blastocyst culture – embryos are grown in an incubator till they reach the blastocyst stage and thereafter are transferred to the womb, Surrogacy – embryos are transferred into the womb of another woman who carries on the pregnancy for 9 months, Oocyte bank – eggs can be frozen and stored for many years, and Patient education and counseling.

Through counseling sessions, Fortis will educate its patients about the need to address infertility issues and also create awareness about various techniques available for solving infertility problems.
