The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced that the State Government would soon initiate a pilot project to set up a Dental Implant Centre at Mohali, the first-of-its kind in India under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode to provide the best quality implants to the common man at affordable rates.

Presiding over the 16th National Conference of Indian Society of Oral Implantlogy and Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Dental Council of India at Niper, Badal said that several such Dental Implant Center would be established in other Government Hospitals and Primary Health Centre in a phased manner.


The upcoming Punjab Dental Implant Centre at Mohali would enable the common man to avail the facility of getting best quality implants at the subsidized rate approximately Rs 9,000-10,000 for which the Private Sector was charging around Rs. 25,000-30000.

The Chief Minister said that with the advancement of Dental implant technology, the life expectancy of the teeth in the past years used to be 35-40yrs. But with lot of advancement in the field of dentistry the life expectancy had now touched 65-70 Years. A large numbers of people from Punjab were settled abroad and because of them a lot of awareness had come up in the field of dental implants in Punjab. Even patient education, conferences and lectures on dental implants have certainly helped in increasing awareness on dental implants. No doubt press and media have also brought a sea change in bringing awareness about dental implants, he added.
