Many institutions have united to advocate for electronic ordering of diagnostic imaging procedures, aided with decision- support software, by forming Imaging e-Ordering Coalition. The members of this coalition will educate the healthcare providers and the policy makers. It was mentioned by the members that efforts to build incentives into electronic prescribing of medications should be broadened to include e-ordering of diagnostic imaging.

Lawmakers will be asked to include e-ordering in the development of health care system incentives for Medicare and Medicaid programs, among others, by the coalition. The American College of Radiology, Center for Diagnostic Imaging, GE Healthcare, Medicalis Corp., Merge Healthcare and Nuance Communications Inc. are amongst the charter members of the Imaging e-Ordering Coalition.
