PerkinElmer, Inc. a global company focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced the opening of its Service Training Academy and Logistics Center in Mumbai, India.

Mr. Dusty Tenney, president Laboratory Services, PerkinElmer, inaugurated the center in Mumbai. With the new center, PerkinElmer India will further enhance the competency of its service organization, focusing on building its capabilities to meet customer requirements in an evolving marketplace. The new facility which will become fully operational in early April 2009 will shorten the response time to customers as well as improve instrument uptime.

This state-of-the-art service training academy and logistics center coupled with the newly opened Technology Innovation Center which is in close proximity are both located in the heart of Mumbai city and will provide benefits to Indian customers. Responding on the timing of the investment in new center and current economic situation, Dr. Fedja Bobanovic, president, PerkinElmer India said, “The new service training academy and logistics center demonstrates our continuous commitment to India in supporting the expansion of health and environmental infrastructures of emerging growth nations and our continued focus on customer support.

PerkinElmer India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PerkinElmer, operates as a direct sales, service and marketing operation targeting India’s thriving life science and analytical instrumentation markets.PerkinElmer India serves approximately 1500 customers across various industries, including pharmaceutical, government, environmental, petrochemical and chemical. The Company provides precision instrumentation, testing systems and components, software and services for a wide range of scientific and industrial laboratory applications. Its products are used in predictive diagnostics, personalized medicine and environmental monitoring.  PerkinElmer India currently employs approximately 170 people in Bangalore, Baroda, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune.
