iSOFT, an IBA Health Group Company, today announced an important step in its strategy for growth in Latin America with a fourth contract in Mexico and first in Honduras. The initial value of these two contracts is US$ 349,651.

In a contract with the Honduras government, iSOFT will develop and implement a system that will provide a central register of information for government departments to manage health services and improve preventative measures.

iSOFT is working with a consortium of three local companies, Techassist, Lain Entralgo and ASI Consulting, to complete the project within nine months. The contract includes support and maintenance for an additional 12 months. The deal is part of a development project by the United Nations, which is providing additional funding.

Meanwhile, iSOFT has won its first contract in Mexico‘s private healthcare sector and its first contract with local partner IT-TRADE. The Real San Jośe Hospital at Guadalajara, one of Mexico‘s largest private healthcare facilities, is implementing iSOFT’s patient management and clinical applications, which will be integrated with SAP’s financial application.

Running in outpatient, inpatient, infirmary, radiology, laboratory and acute care departments, iSOFT’s solution will give healthcare providers access to electronic medical histories throughout the hospital.

Guillermo Ramas, Managing Director of iSOFT Southern Europe and Latin America, said: “We are proving that our solutions are versatile and transferable to other health systems. Both new contracts are important in our strategy of continuing iSOFT’s expansion in Latin America, and to take our know-how and experience to new markets where significant opportunities exist to improve health services provided to patients in both public and private sectors.”

Gary Cohen, iSOFT’s utive Chairman and CEO, said: “While these contracts are comparatively small, they are very important strategically, giving us a foothold in Honduras and extending our reach in Mexico and a springboard to further increase our presence in Latin America generally.”

iSOFT’s other contracts in Mexico are with Nuevo Leon State Healthcare Department, Hospital Civil de Guadalajara, and the Women and Children’s Hospital at Monterrey.
