Clinicians of SingHealth, the largest healthcare group in Singapore, are now equipped with clinically relevant, evidence-based guidelines for ordering treatment protocols, while gaining secure access to an integrated EHR to obtain the latest patient information for more timely, more informed care decisions. The group’s new clinical solutions, supplied by Eclipsys, have been successfully activated. The on-time, on-budget technology initiative sets the stage to drive enhanced medication safety processes and improved quality of care across SingHealth’s three hospitals with a total capacity of more than 3000 beds. SingHealth serves an estimated three million patients on an annual basis. The solutions are also available for the group’s nine polyclinics and three specialist outpatient clinics. In the first few hours of going live, more than 1500 concurrent users used the system to help provide improved care for more than 500 inpatients, 14,300 outpatients and 1100 emergency care patients across all the hospitals and clinics. SingHealth has also successfully migrated 10 years of clinical data from its original EHR system as part of the technology activation process. Physicians at SingHealth are now placing medical orders in Eclipsys computerised physician order entry (CPOE) solution, the most widely physician-adopted CPOE system in the U.S. healthcare delivery system. SingHealth also is using an advanced object-based technology as part of the suite to help deploy custom applications to help preserve legacy workflows while driving adoption of new systems features and functions.
