National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), India, will introduce biometric health smart-cards for AIDS patients, which designed to act as portable medical records, ensuring privacy and enabling for easy storage of data. This card will helpful for minimising misuse of Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) drugs. The health ministry undertook feasibility studies in March 2006 in one private hospital, where it has been completed, and in two government hospitals (Ram Manohar Lohia and and Lala Ram Swarup TB Hospital), which are about to complete, and have shown that the technique will work successfully.
